Item description
Refined pair of Italian paintings from the second half of the 17th century. Oil on canvas works depicting two highly fascinating biblical scenes, the death of Abel and Joseph and Putiphar's wife. In the first painting we see Adam and Eve dismayed in front of the lifeless and diaphanous body of Abel. In the second painting, however, we recognize Joseph and the wife of Putiphar, head of the King of Egypt's guards. The woman tries to seduce him and when she refuses she holds him back by tearing his robe. Works of notable pictorial quality, particularly evident in the creation of the flesh tones and the refined details of the clothes. 20th century frames in carved and gilded wood, beautifully decorated, with some signs of aging. Works already restored with relining, replacement of the frame and color recovery in some small places. Overall in good state of conservation. Painting light H 96 x W 132 cm.
