Between Leipzig and Dresden there is a village of the same name which may have been the place of origin of the business. His production was varied, with both utility and decorative objects. After World War II, the company, which was located in East Germany, continued production as VEB Sachsen, Steingutfabrik Strehla. VEB stands for Volkseigener Betrieb. The productions of East German ceramic companies such as Strehla followed a more conservative taste than those of West Germany. Strehla parts are harder to find than West German made parts. The company ended its activity in 1989, the year of the reunification of the two Germanys.
