Item description

"Peking" vase designed in the mid to late 1960s by Gerda Heuckeroth for the Carstens company of Tonnieshof. Example in excellent, almost perfect condition. The design is characterized by a double ring neck, in orange and coral colour, with a brown body with almost metallic appearances. Height 20 cm, diameter 22 cm CARSTENS Tonnieshof was founded in 1946 by Ernst and Christian Carstens. It resumes the family's long history of porcelain production in Germany, which was abruptly interrupted at the end of the Second World War, when the Carstens factories ended up in East German territory and were expropriated by the GDR. Reopened in 1946 on the border with East Germany, in Tunnieshof, it quickly regained value, enjoying great success for many years with a great variety of shapes and glazes. GERDA Heuckeroth: she trained under the famous ceramist Siegfried Muller and studied at the Bremen School of Applied Arts. You have been artistic director of Carstens since the early 1940s, until the division of Germany. After the war, he worked for various companies, including Grànstadt, Villeroy & Boch as a designer of shapes and decorations. In 1964 he moved to CARSTENS TONNIESHOF as head of his Atelier department. WEST GERMANY CERAMICS "West Germany" identifies the ceramics produced in Western Germany between the years 1949 and 1990, a very important period for German ceramics, characterized by a varied experimentation with shapes and colors. (Icing finishes are also well known, also known as Fat Lava, due to their highly material appearance).
