Item description

Description: French Napoleon III clock in gilded bronze and green Alpine marble belonging to the second half of the 19th century. The green marble base is adorned with gilded bronze applications with a floral motif and rests on circular bronze feet. The main façade is characterized by the two putti with trumpets and the large sculpture at the top depicting the winged victory. In the composition, very harmonious despite the richness of elements, she is traditionally represented as a young and beautiful woman, holding a branch in her hand and a trumpet in her mouth. The gilding is galvanic. Galvanic Gilding: The discovery of the galvanic technique began in 1791 when Luigi Galvani discovered the electric fluid, which is why all electrolysis procedures are called electroplating which derives from his surname Galvani. Galvanic gold plating is in fact a type of electrochemical process in the so-called galvanic bath, a thin layer of gold is made to adhere to a metal using electric current. This current carries positively charged gold ions and adheres to the metal which instead has a negative charge. The result is that a uniform and thin layer is deposited. General Conditions: Mechanism to be serviced. Origin: France (1860/80) Measurements: 35x18 H55cm. Document: Certificate of Authenticity.
