Item description

This elegant and distinctive brass structure features a black marble base. The piece was crafted between 1990 and 1995 in a workshop in Florence, Italy, a Tuscan city long recognized as a key center for metal craftsmanship, including brass and wrought iron. Florence has a rich tradition in metalworking that dates back to the Renaissance. Florentine artisans are renowned for their intricate designs and the exceptional quality and elegance of their metalwork. Brass is an alloy composed of copper and zinc. This sculpture was made using a special type of brass, containing 40% tin, known as "similoro" due to its gold-like color. The metal has been treated to prevent deterioration over time. The leaves were cut from brass sheets and then hand-shaped, while the plant’s branches were made from solid, thick brass wires. The entire piece was soldered and assembled with aesthetic expertise and great attention to detail. The pedestal is made of black Marquinia marble, sourced from Spain, a premium material often used in high-end ornamental work. The sculpture depicts an Aralia plant, botanically known as Fatsia Japonica, a name given by the French botanists Decaisne and Planchon. This evergreen ornamental plant is native to East Asia and is particularly popular in Japan, where it is often used in Zen meditation gardens. In the language of flowers, this plant symbolizes the sentiment, "I will speak to you of my affection." The item is in good condition. Measurements: width 30 cm, depth 23 cm, height 80 cm.
