Pair of lacquered and gilded Baroque armchairs, 19th century
SILVER Seller in Milano, Italy
Pair of lacquered and gilded Venetian armchairs from the third quarter of the 18th century. Four curved legs ending in a curl support a seat with a curved shield backrest connected to the band with two sinuous armrests. The seat, made of carved walnut, is lacquered in shades of green and gilded in the raised parts. There are re-enactments in the original gilding and lacquering. Similar chairs can be found in the large collections of Venetian furniture; we point out a seat published by Clara Santini almost identical to those described here but now brought to walnut and no longer lacquered.
