Under this name is known the statue of Aphrodite found in two pieces by a farmer on the Greek island of Milos in 1820 and now exhibited at the Louvre Museum in Paris. The Venus, a symbol of feminine beauty understood in the classical world, was made here in a fragmented version suitable for all types of furnishings.
