Item description

Wooden Bookcase by Gianluigi Gorgoni for Fratelli Turri, 1970s An exceptional and extremely rare piece in the 1970s Dolcevita style, highlighting the artistic elegance and craftsmanship of design master Gianluigi Gorgoni. The bookcase is crafted in burl wood with brass handles and finishes and is composed of three vertical sections, featuring three bases, five open shelves, and two illuminated display cabinets. The three base elements offer ample storage space and consist of a central unit with three drawers and two side units with double doors. Vertically, the bookcase is supported by four teak grid-style panels, inspired by Japanese design—a unique and luxurious feature that sets this piece apart. The shelves are affixed to the panels via small brass-finished cubes that fit into the grid, creating stunning points of light. The five thick shelves are designed to showcase objects while maintaining their shape over time. Mid-height along the side panels of the two lateral modules are two smoked glass display cabinets with brass-trimmed doors and visible 24kt gold-plated rectangular hinges. The doors feature magnetic closures and semi-circular cutout handles, forming a complete circle when closed. The internal glass shelf has a brass front edge, and each display cabinet is fitted with neon lighting, discreetly concealed behind a vertical protective element, enhancing the bookcase's elegance during evening hours. This prestigious, rare, and elegant bookcase is highly versatile and spacious, making it perfect for a living room, study, or any space dedicated to beauty. The bookcase was purchased new in the 1970s in Rome, Italy, and has remained with the same owners, moving with them through three homes. It is currently assembled with two modules, as shown in the cover photo. It is in good condition, with minor signs of wear consistent with normal use. All elements are original except for two fixing cubes on one shelf. Other furniture in the same style, suitable for both living and bedroom spaces, is also available.
