Neoclassical Italian chest of drawers, 18th century

Neoclassical period chest of drawers, of regional manufacture in the Lombardy area, entirely veneered in walnut and olive wood on a fir frame with walnut legs. Rectangular top centered by a leaf rosette, within a reserve with threading and open book borders. Rectangular body with 3 drawers separated by crosspieces with an ornate motif of leafy spirals within squares with fillets in light and green stained wood, the external hinged part on the crosspieces and the lateral uprights, profiled by a bevelled frame in contrasting wood. Sides with walnut and olive wood borders with walnut tableaux arranged in a "v", restoration truncated pyramidal feet, threaded with olive wood inserts in relation to the trunk. Original hardware, with working keyed locks and cast brass fittings with intertwined snake pattern escutcheons and handles, probably one partially replaced. International furniture belongs to that category of iconic, timeless objects that allow it to be inserted into any interior furnishing context.
