Item description
This Panton chair was produced by Verner Panton for Herman Miller in 1974 and is made of S-shaped plastic. Panton designed the first-ever chair consisting of a single piece molded from plastic available in different colors. The S chair became Panton's most famous and most produced design. He created innovative and futuristic designs using multiple materials (especially plastics) and vibrant colors. His style was firmly rooted in the 1960s, but regained popularity in the late 20th century. Pantone contributed to the development of elegant new styles reflecting the "space age" of the 1960s, which became known as Pop Art. Today, the chairs are part of the permanent collections of some of the world's most famous museums, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Design Museum in London, the German Historical Museum in Berlin and the Danish Museum of Art and Design in Copenhagen. The chair dates from the third production version, which was launched in the early 1970s and used a colored fabric in the mass. They are preserved in original condition with no damage, there are some minor scratches and scuffs. Two chairs have a slight discoloration from the sun - visible in the photo .
