Item description

Chandelier by Cocoon Crèation. Sphere suspension made of cocoon and decorated with multicolor paint splashes. Cocoon is an interesting material that was exported to Italy in the 1960s. It is a plastic material that is sprayed, forming silk-like filaments which, when overlapped, create a kind of cocoon. Flos, a company created for the production of chandeliers with this technique, attributes the credit for its discovery to the German company "Goldkant Leuchten" founded in 1946. The material and technique were then exported to Italy at the end of the 1950s by Arturo Eisenkeil of Merano. Eisenkeil together with Dino Gavina, the Castiglioni Brothers, Ignazio Gardella and other very important producers created Flos in the 1960s. This fun chandelier was produced in the 70s and is in excellent conservative condition. It has no holes or defects and the cocoon has no yellowing, the only defect, a breakage, is found in the plastic cable cover as shown in the photo, which is easily replaceable.
