Jewellery box in brass and mother-of-pearl, 1970s

This box is a refined decorative object probably intended to hold small personal items or jewellery. The outside of the lid is decorated with a geometric pattern of mother-of-pearl tiles, creating a shiny, iridescent effect typical of this natural material. The golden inlay is made of brass, adding a touch of elegance and refinement, while the contrast between the metal and the mother-of-pearl lends a luxurious appearance. The body of the box, visible on the inside and outside edges, has a varnished wood finish, probably polished natural wood for a smooth and warm effect. This combination of materials, with the use of wood, brass and mother-of-pearl, recalls a classical style and could indicate a Middle Eastern or Asian origin, areas known for the use of mother-of-pearl and brass in handcrafted objects.
