19th century gilded bronze crucifix signed Barbedienne

Rare crucifix in gilded bronze and enamel with large cabochons applied on black Belgian marble and semi-precious stones in neo-Gothic style. Work signed Barbedienne at the bottom, referable to the well-known French foundryman Ferdinand Barbedienne (1810-1892), lacking authentication. Founded in 1834, Maison Barbedienne, the most famous art bronze company in France, has had immense international influence for a century. His works won numerous awards such as the great medal of honor at the world exhibition of 1855. It shows some signs of aging and the marble cross has a spinning in the center (see photo). Still equipped with its original box, the object is in good state of conservation.
