Item description

Wonderful set of four chairs designed by Carlo Santi for the Arform manufacture in the 1950s. These chairs are characterized by very geometric and rigid lines, typical of Santi's design, which give them an architectural and essential look. The rear legs have a pyramidal shape, while the front legs are distinguished by an asymmetrical and particularly original geometry. The backrest, also geometric in shape, echoes the pattern of the front legs, creating a visual harmony that enhances the chair's structure. This interplay of shapes and symmetries helps give the chairs a rigorous yet charming appearance, making them perfect for those who appreciate the essentiality of mid-century design. The seat is made of woven straw, a material typical of the 1950s, which adds a touch of authenticity and tradition to the set. Interestingly, one of the chairs features a different checkerboard pattern, making it unique within the group. The backrest is high and thin, composed of a high rope band that adds elegance and lightness to the overall structure of the chairs. These chairs are ideal for environments with a rigorous and essential taste, but can also be used as a counterpoint in settings with a rustic flavor. They represent an excellent choice for true fans of mid-century Italian design. This set was published in Domus 343 in June 1958, testifying to its value and relevance in the design scene of the time.
