Painting on panel from the second half of the 19th century
Belgian painter, signed and dated.
The profession of mouse catcher has almost disappeared.
In ancient times, however, it had its value above all in the fight against diseases and plagues.
He was almost always accompanied by his trusty pet and
he wandered around large cities hunting rodents and then selling their skins and meat.
The painting is an oil on panel signed and dated 1873 lower right
by master Jan Van De Kerkove (1822-1881).
In good condition but needs small touches.
The golden frame is contemporary and also in good condition.
The measurements of the painting alone are 30 cm high and 20 cm wide
