This carpet by Ottavio Missoni with measures 235 cm. x 166 cm. is hand-knotted in pure wool in the 1980s. It features a harmonious combination of light blue, yellow and brown hues, evoking a vibrant palette rich in dynamic colors and geometric patterns. In one corner it features, knotted, the Missoni signature. On the back of the rug is the label of T&J Vestor, the brand founded by Ottavio and Rosita Missoni for home textile furnishings. T&J Vestor, now part of Missoni Home, is synonymous with quality craftsmanship and luxury Italian design. This label certifies the authenticity of the piece, ensuring its value in the vintage design market. Ottavio Missoni was born on 11 February 1921 in Dubrovnik, on the Dalmatian coast. His mother, Teresa de Vidovich, was countess of Capocesto and Rogoznica while his father, Vittorio Missoni, was a sea captain from Friuli who moved to Dalmatia when it was under Austrian rule. He was educated in Zadar, Trieste and Milan. Missoni is best known for its patterned knitwear, particularly a colorful zig-zag pattern, but it now includes several collections. His style has been called Put together, which is an overlay of colors, and patterns that seem random, but form studied geometries. The family-run brand has successfully harnessed the founders' heritage, avoiding excessive trends while staying true to the initial style (a true trademark), thanks to the efforts of the younger members of the Missoni clan.
