Item description

Important pair of paintings, oil on canvas technique. Early era of the eighteenth century. Author Camillo Sagresitani. The work, of excellent quality, depicts gender scenes, set in a night atmosphere full of pathos but refined, with a dark background radiated by some flashes of the sunset. The brightness, which envelops the characters in a wise chiaroscuro, and the use of intense colors, capable of building a scene full of energy. Observing the works and examining their attributive location, the peculiar characters connect their origin to the happiest production of the late Tuscan Baroque; In particular, the stylistic and pictorial characteristics allow you to combine it in the hand of Giovanni Camillo Sagresani (1660-1731), one of the most intriguing and charismatic artistic figures of the Tuscan artistic panorama of the seventeenth century. The style presents peculiar light and chromatism effects, influenced by the examples of Luca Giordano, Giuseppe Maria Crespi and Sebastiano Ricci, learned during the stays between Rome, Bologna and Venice at the beginning of the ninth decade, proving to be a prominent personality of the late Baroque.
