Neoclassical painting on table, 19th century

Ancient French painting of the first half of the 19th century. Opera Oil on table in oak of excellent pictorial quality depicting neoclassical subject entitled Amintas (Aminta), by the famous work of Torquato Tasso. Painting of beautiful extent characterized by warm and well -defined colors. Aminta, a young shepherd, falls in love, not reciprocated, of the beautiful mortal nymph Silvia. Even after saving her from the clutches of a satyr, the young girl, abandons him without even greeting him. Aminta, desperate for finding a veil of the bloodstream of blood, tries to commit suicide. After various vicissitudes, the story ends with the crowning of love between the two. Painting attributable to the French painter Philippe Jacques Van Brée (1784-1871), missing additional documentation. Work that has undergone a slight conservative restoration intervention over time. The table has small color falls (see photo), structurally healthy, solid and in beautiful patina. Painted overall in good conservative state.
