Circle of il Veronese, Portrait of a Lady with a dog, 16th century

Italian painting of the second half of the 16th century. Oil work on canvas of the Venetian school attributable to Paolo Caliari's shop called Veronese as it takes as a model the original of the master now exhibited at the Thyssen Museum in Madrid (the work is currently not accompanied by Expertise, but it is possible to request it upon payment of the related additional costs). Framework of considerable pictorial quality depicting the portrait of a young woman in elegant noble clothes, perhaps identifiable in Isabella Andreini, one of the most famous actresses and writers of the late Renaissance. He holds a small book in his hand, suggesting a refined education, while a small company dog, a symbol of loyalty, sits next to her. Scenographic setting of the eighteenth century in richly carved and golden wood, with some signs of time. Work already restored with Rintelo, replacement of the frame and color recovery in small points. Overall in good conservative state. Painted light h 97 x l 73 cm.
