Judith and Olofern, oil painting, 18th century

Wonderful Italian picture of the first half of the eighteenth century. Oil work on canvas depicting a biblical story of great charm, the beheading of the Babylonian leader Oloferne by the Jewish Jewish widow, who wanted to save their people from foreign domination. The scene assists the old servant Abra and everything takes place in the oxen while the light illuminates the protagonist of the composition and makes its jewels shine and the sword Elsa. Lombard school painting of considerable pictorial quality, in particular, the incredible realism of the sumptuous guides of Giuditta, with meticulous gold details, inserts and white lace with refined transparencies, should be underlined. The hairstyle is then superlative, the blond curly hair are adorned with an elaborate headdress, decorated with splendid pearls and feathers. Picture already restored with Rintelo, replacement of the frame and recovery of color in small points. Overall operates in good conservative state.
