Item description

In 1972 Ernesto Gismondi, founder of Artemide, commissioned designer Richard Sapper to create a lamp that would meet everyone's needs, and could be sold to tizio, caio and sempronio, hence the name Tizio for one of the most iconic lamps in the history of design. The lamp has been produced since that year without interruption. The version presented is the first one, produced in 1972. It still features the toggle ignition, later replaced by the illuminated button. And it does not have the spacer rod that Sapper was forced to insert starting in 1973 after the Danish authorities imposed this safety modification to allow importation into their country. The lamps, in the black version, are in very good vintage condition.
