Item description
Elegant writing table of Empire style and era, from the first half of the 19th century. Mahogany feather structure and Slavonian Oak interior in, with 4 column legs with gilded bronzes resting on hemispherical feet each independent (and not connected to each other by a cross as is usually seen) and therefore more elegant. Finished from the center, it has in the front 4 drawers with lock (even if they would seem 5): a big one in the center, two small ones on the left and one double in height on the right with inside a further compartment with sliding cover and lock. To the sides two retractable tops can be lengthened up to 30cm. each one covered, inside a band, in leather bordered by a pure gold greek; the same workmanship is seen on the main top, with the addition of the mahogany feather on the bands and of 4 palmettes inside the corners of the golden greek enclosed by a further greek with bolus. The state of preservation is very good, the structure is healthy and firm, the patina needs further polishing, the locks all present, the gilding of the bronzes very nice. Present some small signs of the time.
