Inlaid French writing desk in Napoleon III style, early 20th century















Particular French writing desk from the beginning of the 20th century. Napoleon III style furniture richly inlaid with floral decorations in mahogany, walnut, maple, bone and precious woods. Flap cabinet fitted with an external front drawer, concealed writing compartment with 4 drawers and pull-out top (see photo) of good size and service. A knob is missing from an internal drawer (see photo). Cabinet adorned at the bottom with feet and decorative elements in carved and gilded wood (see photo). Ideal wall-mounted flap, (inlaid on three sides) but can also be placed in the centre of a living room or study. A piece of furniture for antique dealers and interior designers, built in two separable bodies. The upper body offers three shelves, also inlaid, of discreet size and service. It has small decorative flaws and some signs of age (see photo), structurally healthy and in beautiful patina. Complete with working key, overall in fairly good state of preservation.
