Item description

The painting has been cleaned and arranged in the workshop of a talented restorer, ready to be framed and hung. The last photograph shows how the painting looked before cleaning. In contrast to Japonism and Chinoiserie, the Orientalist painters of the mid-19th century were Europeans who each painted in their own style, but were united by their choice of subjects related to the 'Near East', which was all about romantic sweetness.
