France, circa 1925, natural beech, iron, upholstered and covered with fabric, wooden wheel for adjusting the back and seat, height 50.5 cm, length 160 cm, width 68 cm. This mechanical chaise longue was an inspiration for Le Corbusier and Charlotte Perriand when they worked on their idea of creating a continuously adjustable chaise longue, which eventually resulted in their famous "Swinging Chaise Longue", made of tubular steel.
