Item description

Triptych with clock and pair of candelabra attributed to Etienne Lenoir - Henry Dasson, 19th century. All three elements have a similar base: above a square base rests a Rouge Griotte marble plinth around which is a bronze laurel wreath, finely chiseled with a burin. The clock features a bronze figure of a putto kneeling on his left leg, while the right is advanced and partially covered by drapery that also hides his groin. The head is bowed in an attitude of effort, while both arms are raised to support the clock case. This, gilded and decorated in chisel and burin with a beaded cord that echoes the decoration on the marble plinth, is adorned on the top with a bow. On the display the hours are marked with Roman numerals, while the minutes, scanned from five to five, are marked with Arabic numerals; the bronze hands are also finely ornamented with phytomorphic motifs. The dial bears the watchmaker's signature "Et.ne Lenoir / AParis". The two candelabra also depict two bronze putti with butterfly wings, mirroring each other: one leg is raised and the weight of the body is shifted forward in the momentum of a run; the face is turned upward in an expression between amazement and amusement. The arms are outstretched and support two candle holders representing flashlights with lit fires made of gilded bronze; the drapery that wraps around the sides of the two figures is also made of gilded bronze.
