Item description
Original and particular head in white glazed ceramic, the facial features have been deliberately outlined in a light way but are elegant and refined, is a special piece and characteristic of the 70s, was used as a simple and pleasant decoration of environments, or as practical support for wig, glasses, hats or headphones. It was made between 1968 and 1972 in a craft workshop in Sassuolo (Modena-Italy), a famous and important area for the production of Italian ceramics. The sculptor obtained a hollow blank of white clay, then began to model the face by hand and smoothed it, always by hand, with special tools until he reached the desired finish, he let it dry completely and evenly, the drying times were long to avoid the creation of breaks; performed the first firing at low temperature (1000°C), then immersed it in a white tin oxide enamel containing a vitrifying agent and fired it a second time to fix the color, thus obtaining glossy and homogeneous enameling; these manual processes can be observed on our object, in fact, the surface is not perfect as if it had been made mechanically, but it is pleasantly uneven and therefore more valuable than the industrial one. The artifact is in excellent condition. Measures diameter cm.21, height cm.25.
