Item description

Lombard/Venetian painting from the 17th century. Oil-on-canvas work depicting portrait, grotesque tavern character with glass of excellent painterly hand. Painting of beautiful size and proportion adorned with a wooden frame, not contemporary, pleasantly carved, with some small signs of time (see photo). A painting of great character, note the character's hand of clear Caravaggesque inspiration and the excellent transparency of the glass, a work for antique dealers, interior decorators and collectors of high period Italian painting. Painting that has undergone conservative restoration, re-staining, frame replacement and colour restoration in places (see photo). Work in overall good condition with some minor signs of time. Light painting H 72 x W 58 cm.
