Item description
Brass bed by Osvaldo Borsani and Arnaldo Pomodoro, 1960s. Borsani and Pomodoro are two famous and respected exponents of Italian creativity, both active in the second half of the 20th century. The first was an architect and furniture designer, known above all for his role as founder of Tecno and as the author of iconic pieces such as the P40 and Canada armchairs; the second is instead one of the most influential modern artists in Italy, active above all as a sculptor but also as an engraver, painter and decorator. It is little known, however, that at some point, in the 1960s, the two joined forces to create a series of beds produced in very limited series that brought together the elegant and contemporary lines of Borsani with the material and personal approach of Tomato sculpture. The headboards of each bed are cast in solid brass based on the artist's original designs and show his unmistakable touch made up of wavy and very "tactile" brass elements. The bed proposed here is part of that collection and has been preserved in excellent condition. The main frame shows signs of age - the paint is faded (see photos) - and the buyer can request that the frame be repainted in a color of his choice before shipping. The measurements indicated refer to the internal space, where the mattress is located.
