Item description
The great skill of the Murano artisans manifests itself in many different ways. Some are skilled blowers, others are able to create elaborate sculptures and bowls freehand, and finally some master the technique of modeling and polishing glass. From their hands come some of Murano's most intriguing geometric pieces, including this unusual and attractive paperweight (or ashtray) with fourteen facets. Its particular appearance, with a darker shade of glass submerged by a lighter one, suggests that this piece may have been designed by the famous glass designer Flavio Poli, pioneer of the "Sommerso" technique, or at least in his style. It is massive and hypnotic like a prism. It is preserved in good condition, but has some scratches and a visible dent highlighted in the last photo.
