Item description

12-light chandelier designed by Angelo Lelii for Arredoluce around 1957. Polished brass frame, white opal duplex glass diffusers, red Plexiglas lower discs. The chandelier designed by Lelii takes the typology of the large classical chandelier and reworks it with more modern forms that highlight the quality of the materials and the perfection of the workmanship. Angelo Lelii began designing and producing lamps in the 1940s but it was not until the post-war period that the company took the name Arredoluce and began its production of high quality design and construction. In addition to designing himself what were to become true icons of design, he called upon designers such as Gio Ponti, Nanda Vigo, Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, Mario Tedeschi and Ettore Sottsass to design for the company, giving rise to one of the most comprehensive catalogues in Italian lighting and the world. This model does not appear in the Catalogo Ragionato Arredoluce edited by Anti Pansera, Alessandro Padoan and Alessandro Palmaghini, published by Silvana Editoriale in 2018, but it has a similar structure to mod. 12615 published on p. 306 and mounts the same diffusers as the wall sconces mod. 12653, 12654 and 12655 published on pp. 311 and 312.
