Item description
Italian painting from the second half of the 17th century depicting the Gospel episode of Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well. Christ asked for a drink, and the woman was surprised that a Jew would turn to a Samaritan woman, since they were frowned upon. Whereupon Jesus offered the woman living water, and whoever drinks from it will never thirst again. The encounter has symbolic significance, Christ offering salvation to all, no one excluded. Religious oil on canvas painting of good painterly hand, for antiquarians and sacred painting collectors. Work that has undergone restoration with rintelo and color restoration in some places, overall in fair state of preservation. 20th-century gilt wood frame of beautiful decoration, with some signs of time. Light painting H 70 x W 94 cm.
