Pair of blue alcantara armchairs in the style of Guglielmo Ulrich, 1950s

Pair of comfortable and original small armchairs; the structure is very solid with black painted wooden legs; the armrests are integrated with the backrest which is wide and enveloping and has a half-moon opening at seat height to make the seat wide and comfortable. The elegant cylindrical legs tapering slightly downwards are an integral part of the overall design, note the graceful and distinctive brass protection at the ends of the two front legs. The seats are still upholstered in their original Alcantara fabric in a fine blue colour, the overall look is curved with soft lines, perfect for conveying a feeling of comfort and well-being. The armchairs were created between 1950 and 1954 by master craftsmen from Milan who worked in collaboration with the designer Gugliemo Ulrich on his important projects. Guglielmo Ulrich was born in Milan in 1904 to Alberto and Luisa Battaglia. From a noble family of Danish origin, he attended the Brera Academy and, after two years, graduated in architecture from the Milan Polytechnic in 1928. Architect, designer, interior decorator and painter, Ulrich was one of the most interesting multifaceted artists of the last century who undoubtedly found his greatest expression in the world of design between the 1940s and 1970s. What is striking about Ulrich's work is precisely his ability to combine innovation and the new identity of Italian design. A unique ability to create a link between tradition and innovation. The two small armchairs, skilfully constructed, are able to lend any room style and aesthetic personality, they have a personal and unrepeatable charm, they are a discreet and original furnishing accessory, able to create calm and tranquil atmospheres, to bestow romanticism and refinement; moreover, the blue colour matches perfectly with the other colours and lends itself to different home styles, from traditional to modern. The armchairs are in good original condition. Width 55 cm, depth 50 cm, height 63 cm, seat 35 cm.
