Sculpted grey marble column, 1940s

A splendid display column made in 1940 of exquisite Italian workmanship. The column is made entirely of sculpted grey marble. The base has a beautiful octagonal shape on which stands a second round base supporting a beautiful frieze resembling a marble flower. This flowery structure is eclipsed by the cylindrical-shaped shaft of the column with a sort of marble garland that runs around the column several times. Centrally, we see a kind of interlocking created by four circles that wrap around the column. Subsequently, the structure narrows and then widens on the capital, which supports the final square-shaped base. The corners of the square are very rounded, creating a clean cut, so that it can be placed in any position. The column is very beautiful and is suitable for equally grand houses.
