Finely chased gilded bronze Empire clock, 19th century









Finely chiselled gilt bronze Empire clock belonging to the early 19th century. The scene centres entirely on the figure of Diana the huntress flanked by a small putto. The figure on the left is depicted with a bow in her hand and her hand resting on the ferrule, while the putto holds the flame of hope. The lower part is decorated with allegorical scenes relating to the life of Diana. The dial is made of porcelain and bears Roman numerals with a signature 'DOUTREUWE A PARIS' in the centre. Complete clock with key and pendulum and perfectly functioning mechanism. Provenance: France (1820/30). Measurements: 40 x 17 cm, H 53 cm. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
