Item description

A rare pair of different cedarwood armchairs dating from around the end of the 19th century from Nuristan. The armchairs are square in shape with an adjoining backrest and woven leather seat. The legs are round and carved like the uprights that enclose the backrest carved in high relief with leaf tendril motifs. This type of craftsmanship, genuine and rustic, is fundamentally different from the mass-produced products of the Far East. Each of these pieces of furniture is unique in that they are handmade and characterised by irregularities in shape and construction method that make them unique collectors' items. The chairs measure 46 x 42 x H 65 cm, seat height from the floor 15 cm.
