Item description
Stunning console table upholstered entirely in tobacco-coloured parchment made and designed by Aldo Tura in Milan in the 1960s. The item is in perfect condition as photographed, with some tiny signs of time given its 60 years of life, perfect lacquer, feet and brass profile in perfect condition. Dimensions: 140 x 40 x 75 height. Tura is one of Italy's mid-century talents. In the post-war years, while many manufacturers are intent on adapting their production methods by targeting the masses, Tura remains dedicated to slow, traditional craftsmanship. He favours intricate and complex forms and labour-intensive processes that cannot be replicated in a large-scale factory system. As a result, the number of Tura's works available on the vintage market remains limited. Today, Tura's company continues to produce luxury and deco-esque furniture in Lombardy, but much information about Tura himself has been lost. The Brooklynn Museum in New York has several Tura designs that were originally exhibited between 1950 and 1953 in the travelling exhibition Italy at Work: Her Renaissance in Design Today.
