Modular 1960s bookcase attributable to the firm Umberto Mascagni. It was assembled in 1964 by the owner and never moved, as can be seen from the marble floor characteristic of that period.
The bookcase can be assembled, disassembled and adjusted thanks to a unique frame and a system of small parts.
The storage units are made of wood covered on the sides with ivory-white smooth leatherette with a characteristic punctuation, as can be seen in the photos. The top of the cabinets is black, presumably made of vinyl, on which a sturdy glass, about 7 mm thick, rests, leaving the texture of the upholstery visible. The doors are laminated wood sliding doors.
The shelves are wooden, covered in smooth ivory leatherette like the furniture. The black border is of the same colour and material as the cabinet top with brass-coloured polished strips.
The bookcase is overall in excellent condition as can clearly be seen from the pictures. The only exception is a tear in the upholstery on the inside of one of the two cabinets.
The size of each cabinet is 60 cm high x 90 cm wide x 40 cm deep. Each shelf measures 90 x 30 cm. The dimension of the entire bookcase is height 209 cm x width 188 cm x depth 40 cm.
