PH5 white pendant lamp by Poul Henningsen for Louis Poulsen, 1970s

Sold

PH5 is one of the most famous Danish pendant lamps, designed by the architect Poul Henningsen for the lighting manufacturer Louis Poulsen. The PH5 was first introduced in 1958 and has since become an iconic piece of mid-century modern design. The design intent of the PH5 was to provide glare-free lighting, thanks to the lampshade with several concentric shades that work together to diffuse the light and prevent any glare. The lamp is also equipped with a curved trumpet-shaped reflector that directs the light downwards, creating a soft and warm light. Over the years, Louis Poulsen has produced the PH5 in various colours, most famously in white and in later editions in blue, red and orange. The one presented is white and features blue and red plates and purple construction details. It most likely dates from the 70s-80s. Overall, very good original period condition with no significant scratches or dings, one side slightly curved. Original harness with 255cm cable, adjustable to your needs. The manufacturer's label is preserved.
