Item description
An amazing and very rare Italian vanity table from the 1950s, equipped with a mirror and armchair, a truly unique piece designed by Vittorio Dassi most likely in a four-handed collaboration with Gio Ponti, with whom he worked for many years. It is a striking and versatile piece, also very functional, and would be a great addition to any modern furniture such as a bedroom. All the frames are made of maple wood and their uniqueness lies in the incredible design of the shape of the armchair and also in the carved shape of the wooden handles of the two drawers, as well as the very well-finished woodwork on the front with superb two-tone slatted detailing, also known as 'grissinatura'. Their condition at the time is considered very good, as the pictures show, with slight signs of wear consistent with age and gentle use. All wooden surfaces have been recently polished with shellac, and the seat of the armchair and the sliding perimeter curtain of the vanity have been upholstered with a high quality Italian velvet, even magnificent in its striped weave pattern. The mirror is original of the period but was added as it was not originally part of the vanity. Vanity table dimensions 75 (h) x 105 (w) x 51 (d) cm. Dimensions armchair 68 (h) x 57 (w) x 48 (d) cm.
