Pair of PH5 hanging lamps by Poul Henningsen for Louis Poulsen, 1950s PH5 is one of the best known Danish lamps; first introduced in 1958, it has since become an iconic piece of mid-century modern design. The purpose of PH5's design is to provide glare-free lighting, achieved by the lampshade having several concentric elements that work together to diffuse the light and prevent any harsh glare; it also features a curved, trumpet-shaped reflector, which directs the light downwards, creating a soft, warm glow. Over the years Louis Poulsen has produced the PH5 in various colors: the most famous version is the white one, later also the blue, red and orange ones were born. The version offered here is white with a blue disc and purple details. Overall, very good original condition with no significant scratches or dings. The two lamps have a different suspension system, it is not visible when the lamps are hung, as in the photos, only when they are disassembled. Manufacturer's label preserved. Original wiring with 97 cm and 135 cm long cable, extendable or shorten on request to the desired size.
