Oil painting on canvas from the second half of the 17th century depicting a mythological subject, namely a bacchanal with nymphs and cherubs immersed in a lush landscape. The composition unfolds horizontally on several levels and is full of characters and decorative elements such as festoons and vases that recall classical antiquity. Characterized by fabulous dynamism and cheerfulness. The characters dance and are portrayed in the act of playing musical instruments, drinking wine and eating fruits freshly picked from the tree. Painting of exceptional size and impact adorned with antique wood and plaster frame, not contemporary, finely carved and gilded (bronze tint). The work has undergone conservation restoration, frame replacement, color repainting in a few small spots and has been restretched (see photo). Size without frame: 142 x 204 cm.
