Oval table attributed to Paolo Buffa for La Permanente Cantù, 1950s

Oval mahogany table with a top composed of four mirrored mahogany veneers arranged in a herringbone pattern, bordered with a string inlay and cross-grain veneer, completed with a four-tier frame. Beneath the elegant tapered fillet, the entire structure is supported by four finely inlaid, tapered spindle legs, each ending in substantial brass sabots. This piece is attributed to the designer/manufacturer mentioned above. While it does not bear an attribution mark or proof of authenticity, it is well-documented in design history. It shows a natural patina from age and use, with slight signs of wear to the finish on the top and a small scratch – please see the photos.
