Item description
Round empty pockets (or tray) in Murano glass. The design is essential but well proportioned and elegant; the effect of the two colors that the craftsmen have managed to create with skill and mastery is pleasantly aesthetic. This object was created by the Murano masters with the "incamiciatura" technique, which consists in superimposing, as an initial process, on the glass mass taken out of the furnace, one or more successive layers of glass of different colours. In our object, only the blue color was superimposed on the almost transparent blue glass mass by immersing the barely sketched white shape in a crucible containing the blue molten glass. Then the master glassmaker put everything back into the furnace for a few minutes and then blew into the appropriate barrel, using tongs and working it by hand, he gave the empty pot the desired shape, also modeling the central decoration, also adding a blue glass thread along the entire length. the edge. This operation was done flat, therefore much more difficult to merge the two colors, the object was made entirely by hand and without the use of molds or models, thus creating a unique piece, just like a work of art . The first news of this technique concerns Benedetto Barbaria, who in 1815 created "blown glass with two layers of enamel". The object was created between 1970 and 1973 in Murano (Venice-Italy). As can be seen from the engraving on the edge, the pocket blank is a limited edition item; it is n° 34 of 150 pieces made, which, being all handmade, have differences from each other. Unfortunately we are unable to decipher the name of the design that made it for the Murano company Effe Due. Since 1969, the artisan company Effe Due di Franco Fuga & C. has been producing and marketing fine Murano glass of excellent quality and workmanship, according to the ancient techniques of the Murano tradition. Glasses, bottles, trays, vases, lamps, chandeliers, sculptures and more completely hand-made and mouth-blown to satisfy a demanding and quality-conscious public. The owners of the company like to repeat to their customers: "We like to think, and it may be, that our illustrious fellow citizen Marco Polo gave Kublai Khan, then lord of China, many objects including our Murano glass, which we today we continue to work with the same accuracy and refinement as in the past. We like to define our "classic-modern" style for today's furnishings, but also for that of...always. Beautiful things are timeless." This confirms to us that Murano is literally a melting pot in which the skill and techniques developed by the masters over almost 900 years are combined with contemporary artistic visions - and of course the ever-evolving public taste - to create Murano that is always new and always most beautiful designs in glass. Our item is in good condition. Diameter 30cm, height 3cm. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (custom-made wooden cases, polystyrene, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the items.
