Item description
Neapolitan Smith console table in mahogany feather with maple inlay grafts. The marble top rests on an under-top band inlaid with racemes and griffins motifs and is supported in turn by four balustrade feet in a neo-Gothic form typical of the period. In correspondence with the four columns are bearing feet surmounted by the same inlay as on the under-shelf band. George Smith: owner of a large cabinet-maker's workshop in London and active between 1804 and 1828, famous for having published an album of engravings entitled "A Collection of Designs for Household Furniture" in 1808, some scholars put forward the hypothesis that Neapolitan 'Smith' furniture was inspired by George Smith's designs. In good condition. Provenance Naples early 19th century. Measurements: 160x54 cm, H 100 cm. Certificate of Authenticity. We are at your disposal for further clarification or photographic details.
