Item description
One of the most popular Soviet 35 mm cameras, so popular that it was entered in the Guinness Book of Records. Smena - the world's most popular camera. The history of the Smena dates back to the inter-war years, when one of the oldest Soviet manufacturers of optics. Gomz (Russian: Gosudarstvennyi Optiko-Mekhanicheskii Zavod), introduced the first camera called Smena (now called the original model) in 1939. It was a bellows model, inspired by the Kodak Bantam of 1935. Production was stopped in 1941, as all Gomz production was converted to wartime requirements. However, the brand was not abandoned and 12 years later, in 1953, the brand new Smena appeared on the Soviet market. The camera shown is an iconic model produced since 1971. This camera was also a success and by the end of production in 1991, over 4 million Smena Symbol units had been produced.
