Item description
Wink armchair by Toshiyuki Kita produced by Cassina since 1980. Unusual adjustable position armchair with steel structure, polyurethane foam and polyester wadding padding, ABS floor support caps, adjustable tilt backrest by means of side knobs, headrest formed of two independently reclining parts. It converts to a chaise longue by tipping the base forward. It stems from the origins, education and habits of Japanese Toshiyuki Kita, who associates Wink with his own Western experiences. The author reports that up to a hundred years earlier in Japan, the body is the way of thought. "Za-zen," or sitting, is a hard wooden surface, when not the bare earth; no ergonomic equipment is needed. When the breath is "za-zen," the mind rests and, with it, the body. Time has since worked building a complex weave between the textures of the West and the orders of the East that have shaped new behaviors and ill-defined objects. Display furniture: structure in very good condition; colored upholstery, original of that period, with discoloration due to window irradiation and some creasing.
