Large French riser dated 1871. Object for antique dealers and collectors, with stamp on the base Alph. Giroux Paris (see photo) referable to Alphonse Giroux (1776-1848) and signature on the plate Baujault 1871 (see photo) referable to the sculptor Jean-Baptiste Baujault (1828-1899). Elevation in bronze, brass and chased and gilded metal with head of Bacchus holding plate and red marble base with a small chipping (see photo). In the centre of the plate is a head of a mythological figure, a profile of a faun with ram's horns (see photo). High-quality antique object, finished centrepiece, nice size and pleasant decoration. Riser in good condition and with beautiful patina.
