A beautiful Vistosi vase in the shape of a cylindrical hat in transparent glass with a black glass part on the bottom and a red glass rim. The designer Alessandro Pianon started working for Vistosi in 1956 and founded his own design studio in 1962. Vistosi is one of the oldest glassblowing families, whose roots date back to the 18th century. In 1945, Guglielmo Vistosi opened a factory with innovative design and production concepts. Industrial design fascinated Vistosi. An He linked this to local glass production techniques. After his death in 1952, his younger brother Oreste Vistosi took over the company, assisted by his sons Gino and Luciano. The factory now specialised in light objects. His nephew and outside artists worked in the factory, such as Peter Pelzel, Alessandro Pianon and Fulvio Bianconi. In 1963, a large exhibition was held in the Danish Gallery. In the same year, the factory received the Compasso d'Oro award for a series of cylindrical vases with spirals.
