Backlit bookcase with writing desk by Kai Kristiansen for FM Møbler made in Denmark in the 1960s. Elegant shelving system in superior quality rosewood consisting of a cabinet with rolling shutter doors, one with glass doors, a desk and two backlit shelves. Excellent for creating a workstation/study at home. Original FM Møbler label still present. Mid-century Danish craftsmanship is demonstrated in the richly grained rosewood veneer, solid wood detailing, and stunning folding shutter doors that, at first glance, appear to be one piece; the latter hide a spacious interior with a tray and a shelf. The lamps emit a gentle light. This wall unit is entirely modular and all parts can be raised or lowered, as needed, using a simple system of metal brackets that fit into the tracks.
The four shelves are 28 cm deep. The two shelves with lights are 8.5 cm high, 85.5 cm wide and 18 cm deep. The cabinet with rolling shutter doors is 50 cm high, 85.5 cm wide and 40 cm deep; the drawers are 2.5 cm high. The cabinet with glass doors is 36 cm high, 85.5 cm wide and 32 cm deep. The desk is 21 cm high, 85.5 cm wide and 40 cm; the drawers are 4.5 cm high. The three rosewood veneer metal tracks are 232 cm long.
The furniture has been checked: all drawers and doors work properly; the lamps were also checked. All parts have been cleaned and treated with professional products; small signs of use are left which do not ruin the aesthetics of the furniture and only confirm its originality. Overall, very good vintage condition with minor signs of wear.
